Texas is known for its powerful storms! Lightning, hail, strong winds, flash floods and occasional twisters show up in the spring season across the Lone Star State. It's our severe weather season, and it typically starts in March, then peaks by May. That said, storms can develop any time of the year around here.
WeatherFest 2017 is a FREE, family friendly event that's all about Texas weather — both good and bad.
Come meet the Spectrum News Weather Team and our partners who want your family to become STORM READY. You'll get a chance to "talk weather" with the meteorologists you see on "Weather On The 1s,"ask a panel of experts your weather questions and take photos with some of your favorite forecasters.
There's a bonus: This year's WeatherFest falls on Free First Sunday, so attendees can enjoy complimentary admission to the Bullock Museum's exhibits all day.
Exhibitors at this year's event include:
- Austin Astronomical Society
- Austin Fire Dept Swift Water Rescue Team
- City of Austin Watershed Protection
- Local AMS/NWA Chapter
- NOAA/NWS with tornado simulator
- University of Oklahoma Doppler Radar Truck
