AUSTIN, Texas - South By Southwest and SXSWedu say they are still seeking volunteers for its 2017 conference and festivals.

Organizers say while much of the focus is on the influx of celebrities, techies, musicians and educators that visit Austin for SXSW, the event also relies on more than 4,000 volunteers to help make it a reality.

SXSW said its volunteers are the faces of the event, working in and around the Austin Convention Center or other official venues.

Volunteers will be provided with a unique opportunity to catch a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes at SXSW while earning a chance to see informative panels, catch an emerging band or stand-up comedian, chat with an up-and-coming filmmaker or possibly witness their favorite internet idol taking a selfie.

SXSW is offering a variety of volunteer opportunities, from festival production to conference activities including registration, information, trade show, technical support, and more.

Organizers said volunteers must be able to work a minimum of 24 hours during the event to earn SXSW wristbands and badges. Day and night positions are available.

Applications are open online at http://volunteer.sxsw.com/register.

For more information about volunteering, please contact a SXSW Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@sxsw.com or 512-467-7979.

SXSWedu runs from March 6-9, 2017; SXSW Gaming runs from March 16-18, 2017; and SXSW Conference and Festivals run from March 10-19, 2017.
