Grateful Dead Founder Bob Weir Now the Owner of a Key to Austin

AUSTIN, Texas — The founding member of the Grateful Dead is now the proud owner of a key to the city of Austin.

Mayor Steve Adler presented Bob Weir with the key to the city at soundcheck ahead of his show at Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater Saturday night, Adler announced on Twitter.

According to the tweet, Adler and Weir also talked about the musician’s “Vote Local” initiative. Weir advocates for, a nonprofit which holds voter registration drives at concerts to encourage young people to vote.

Weir played with his Campfire Band played Saturday and Sunday night at ACL Live.
