Theresa Woman Facing Animal Cruelty Charges

THERESA, N.Y. -- Josiphina Nelson, 45, of Theresa, is facing multiple animal cruelty charges after being accused of abusing her livestock.

State police responded to her home on County Route 1-94 Saturday. 

Investigators say six horses were determined to be malnourished while another horse was found dead. 

Nelson was charged with seven counts of torturing and injuring animals and failure to provide proper sustenance.

She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Antwerp Court later this month.
