Man accused of hitting state trooper's cruiser charged

TOWN OF CAMPBELL, N.Y. -- The man accused of hitting and critically injuring State Trooper Craig Foglia during a traffic stop in May has been charged.

Kenneth Aukett, 78, of Westmont, New Jersey has been issued several tickets, including reckless driving and failure to reduce speed.

Investigators say Aukett hit Trooper Foglia while he was sitting in his patrol car back on May 17 on Interstate-86 in the town of Campbell. 

Foglia was airlifted to a Rochester hospital where he underwent two surgeries. He returned home last month.

Aukett is scheduled to appear in the town of Campbell Court next month.
