No Delay: New Rochester Train Station on Track
Builders say they're on-track with a mid-August end date for construction on Rochester's new rail station.
Congresswoman Louise Slaughter took local business leaders on a tour of the $34 million terminal on Monday.
It's described as fully accessible and state-of-the-art. The Democrat from Fairport says the new train station will provide a boost to local companies by offering them another transit option.
“We can bring lots of companies in, but if the transportation and infrastructure isn't good enough they're not going to stay,” she said.
The rail option is also a welcomed one by travelers.
"I'm finding it as super-convenient and cost effective rather than driving and being stuck in traffic,” said Lyndsi Knight.
For the past 20 months, Rochester rail travelers have used a temporary terminal to replace one torn down after 37.
