Middletown Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul is pushing for Governor Cuomo's free tuition scholarship program for state colleges to be included in this year's budget. Some say it will help students and their families who may not be able to afford it. Others say the program would give public schools an unfair advantage over private schools. As New York state leaders negotiate the budget, one key measure is "Raise the Age." That's Governor Andrew Cuomo's proposal to keep youth out of adult prisons. But the Ulster County district attorney says it keeps DAs from doing their jobs. Candace Dunkley spoke to local leaders on both sides of the issue and has more.

While budget negotiations continue at the state capitol, lawmakers came together today in support of a common goal: raising the wages for direct care workers. Those are people who take care of people with disabilities who live independently, outside of a care center. Nick Reisman joins us from the state capitol with the latest.
