Fuccillo Car Dealerships Donate to Vera House
You've seen the commercials. Through the month of October, money would be donated for every car sold or leased at a Fuccillo dealership in an effort to combat domestic violence.
Tuesday, a check for more than $59,000 was given to the Vera House in Onondaga County -- $100 for every car sold. It's 25 percent more money than last year's campaign raised, and it's money that will go a long way toward prevention, as well as a chance for Fuccillo and his employees to give back.
"You know, Billy himself, he's kind of the American Dream," Fuccillo Kia of Clay General Manager David Perry said. "He started out with a little used car lot here in Syracuse, New York, and now he's all over the country. And he's glad to give back to the community, because the community is what's given us what we have today as a corporation."
"It helps us with the unrestricted needs that we have," Vera House Men. Lead by Example Coordinator George Kilpatrick said. "A lot of our money is tied with with very specific uses in tems of grants and such. So, there are some unmet needs in our community. And we're able to use funding like this."
Statewide, Fuccillo dealerships donated more than $219,000 through this campaign, some of which was also given to the Jefferson County Center for Domestic Violence.
