Alcohol Appears to Be Factor in Route 7 Crash Leaving 18-Year-Old Dead, Police Say

State police say alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in a crash in Latham Tuesday night that left an 18-year-old dead.

Troopers say around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, a car heading eastbound on Route 7 came into contact with another car, went through the median, and crashed into two cars going westbound.

One of the cars hit was being driven by 18-year-old Paige Ahearn. She was pronounced dead the scene.  She just graduated from Waterford-Halfmoon High School.

Charges in the crash are pending. State police say anyone who witnessed the crash should call them.
