Nurses Pursue More Authority in Patient Care

The Nurse Practitioners Association says their members are increasingly becoming the primary care providers for their patients, and so they should have more authority when it comes to life and death decisions. The group came to Albany on Tuesday to ask lawmakers for the power to sign do-not-resuscitate orders when asked, and also the ability to enter agreements to make automatic defibrillators available.
