Business Leaders Call for Workers' Comp Update
Dozens of business groups are teaming up to call for changes to the state's workers compensation system. The coalition says costs to business have been going up for nearly a decade, with insurance premiums rising by nine percent on average last year. And so the members are focusing on reforming Scheduled Loss of Use Awards, which they argue need updates to reflect improved medical technology, and on clarifying the start dates for payments based on permanent partial disability. Joining us to explain more are Ken Pokalsky, Vice President of the Business Council of New York State, and Lev Ginsburg, the council's Director of Government Affairs.
