Giving Inmates Access to Education

Advocates are again trying to help prison inmates earn a college degree, this time by making them re-eligible for the Tuition Assistance Program, better known as TAP. A new report from the 'Education from the Inside Out Coalition' finds that increased access to education not only helps the health of inmates but also helps their families. Part of that is the fact that a college education helps former prisoners get better jobs and stay out of further trouble. But there are other benefits as well. Co-founders of the coalition, Glenn Martin and Vivian Nixon, joined us to explain.
