McDermott bottled up the Jets but can't contain his smile
After his first win as an NFL head coach, Sean McDermott couldn't help opening up a little.
"It feels good to be 1-0, it really does. I'll be human for a second, it feels good to be 1-0. Is that what you're looking for? It feels good to be 1-0."
Veteran safety Micah Hyde remarked on how loose McDermott was on the sidelines during the win over the Jets.
"I just want to be myself. There's a lot of different styles out there. One of the coaching interviews when you do the circuit is 'What are you going to be like on the sideline?' My answer has always been I'm going to be myself. I'm going to be Sean McDermott. I may have looked a certain way, but I think I was pretty vocal down there and just trying to do my part. Do my 1/11th as we say here in terms of doing my job."
Captain and longtime Bill Kyle Williams presented his head coach with the game ball in the locker room. In all, McDermott received two of them, with one going to his parents and the other now sitting in his office.
"It meant a lot to me, really, to be able to lead that team out on the field before the game, as well, and coming from a guy like Kyle, when you say the name Kyle Williams, people around here know what that mean, and to come from a guy like Kyle means a lot."
