World Record Broken at Local Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest
CLARENCE, N.Y. – Professional competitive eaters converged on the Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence once again this year for the annual hands-free pumpkin pie eating contest.
The competition is the only official sanctioned pumpkin-pie eating contest in the country.
Participants are given ten minutes to consume as many pieces of pumpkin pie as possible, all without using their hands.
Last year’s winner Molly Schuyler took the crown once again this year, finishing off 47 pieces and setting a new world record.
Organizers say that having big name competitors like Molly participate is helping this contest grow every year.
“That’s the fun part about it, because when a girl who weighs 120 pounds can eat 14 pounds of pumpkin pie; unbelievable. Unbelievable!” Great Pumpkin Farm Owner Kelly Shultz said. “And she more than doubles most of the other contestants.”
Schuyler prepped for today’s competition by breaking another world record Saturday for most dumplings eaten in two minutes.
