Vanessa Leon joined Time Warner Cable News in 2010 as an associate producer.
Vanessa was born in Costa Rica. She is bilingual in Spanish and English. She moved to Lincolnton, NC with her family at the age of 6.
Vanessa went to Bandys High School where she really found her love of journalism by relaunching the high school paper, creating a monthly school magazine and creating a weekly TV show.
She attended UNC-Chapel Hill and became a full time Tar Heel. She graduated from the School of Journalism in 2010 and interned at WTVD ABC 11 in Raleigh.
After producing weekend mornings for a year at Time Warner Cable News, Vanessa moved to producing the weeknight news casts. In February 2013, she become a full-time reporter/producer.
Vanessa loves all kinds of news but prefers to focus on bringing to light the rich diversity of Charlotte and the surrounding area.
She is a complete gym rat and when not working at News 14 Carolina you can find her at a gym teaching Zumba, Spin, or any fun group fitness class. Vanessa loves the Panthers, Bobcats and of course her Tar Heels!
She lives in Iron Station with her husband Andres Leon.
