Wet & Stormy Weather Returns Today

Showers and storms are likely again across eastern North Carolina today and tonight.  While an isolated shower or storm is possible this morning, the greatest chance for rain will come from late this afternoon through tonight.

The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeastern North Carolina through tonight.  Additional heavy downpours on top of the rain we've already seen this week could lead to localized flooding.  However, that is not the only weather threat we are concerned about today.

The atmosphere over North Carolina late today will be favorable for a few severe storms.  We'll have to watch for storms that may produce damaging wind gusts, hail, and even isolated tornadoes.

Make sure you have a way to receive weather warnings in case they are issued today or tonight.  The storm threat will continue after midnight but should come to an end before sunrise tomorrow morning.

A few scattered storms are possible again Thursday afternoon.  While they should not be as intense as the storms we are expecting late today and tonight, small hail is a possibility tomorrow.

Sunny and dry weather is still in the forecast for Friday.
