Partly Sunny Today; Rain Returns by Tomorrow

It's a dry start to this final week of  September!  We'll see a mix of clouds and sun today with highs in the low 80s.

Our rain chances begin to increase some late tonight as scattered showers move in to the area from offshore.  Lows will drop to near 70.

Scattered showers are then likely for Tuesday and Wednesday.  A few showers could pop up on Thursday as well.  Much of eastern North Carolina should see between 0.5" and 1.5" of rain through the middle of the week.

Dry weather and plenty of sunshine will return for the end of the week and the upcoming weekend.

Then look for off and on rain to continue through at least Monday.  Heavy downpours are likely at times.  Rainfall amounts could vary greatly, but much of the area should see between 1 and 3 inches of rain from Saturday through Monday.

Widespread flooding does not appear likely from this system.  However, some isolated could occur in poor drainage areas during periods of heavy rain.
