After a hot one yesterday, we'll gear up for another warm day ahead, making for a very appropriate way to end out the last full day of summer!
Temperatuers will warm into the upper 80s across the Piedmont, with a handful of lower 90s possible. An isolated storm or two isn't out of the question this afternoon, though the better chance will, again, remain across the mountains. Expect the mostly quiet and warm conditions to continue right into the weekend and at least the first half of next week.
We continue to keep an eye on Maria as she is expected to make her turn to the north today. The track continues to pull Maria far off the coast of the southeastern US, so central North Carolina won't see any significant impacts. On the North Carolina coast, however, increasing ocean swells and strengthening rip currents will begin Friday into the weekend and persist into early next week. Conditions will become breezy for areas along the Outer Banks on Tuesday as Maria moves northward.
