Brother of 21 year old says he was using 'LetGo' app when killed Sunday

CHARLOTTE -- Family, friends and teammates are mourning the loss of student athlete Zachary Finch.

Police say he was killed in a shooting in west Charlotte on Sunday.

The 21 year old played baseball at the Unversity of the Cumberlands in Kentucky.

His brother says they believe Finch used the app "LetGo" to arrange a meet-up to buy a cell phone. And that's where the suspects tried to rob Finch and then shot him.

It's a good reminder for people to take steps to protect themselves when making deals through online marketplaces, like meeting in the parking lot of a police station or a well-lit public place.

"Where there's going to be a lot of people around, a lot of cars around, possibly police nearby, and that's going to dampen down the possibility that somebody's going to take advantage of you, either rob you or harm you," said President of the BBB, Tom Bartholomy.

LetGo says it has been in contact with local law enforcement to help with the investigation.

A spokesperson also said the company's highest priority will always be the trust and safety of their users.
