UNCC Students, Professors Prepare for Archaeological Dig at Mount Zion
CHARLOTTE -- In less than two months, a group of 70 people, including UNC Charlotte students and professors, will set off for Jerusalem to dig at the ancient city of Mount Zion.
The group has been going since 2008.
This archaeological dig is commissioned by the university and is the only outside group allowed to dig in the ancient city.
"What's exciting about the site, we're coming down now upon levels that go back to the first century, to the time of Jesus. We've begun uncovering vaulted chambers and artifacts that are still intact since year '78," said Dr. James Tabor, UNCC.
The cost for each person going on the trip is $5,000.
