1st Family Fitness Walk at El Camino
The corner of Conkey and Clifford Avenue in Rochester was a popular spot this morning for families ready to hit the pavement in the name of fitness.
That's where the first annual Family Fitness Walk at the El Camino trail was held. More than 260 people, from neighborhood and church groups showed up to participate and celebrate the occasion.
The event came together through a partnership between Genesee Land Trust, Project HOPE and the City of Rochester.
This morning brought perfect weather for the event.
"It just shows that our community is just thirsty for fitness opportunities and so our collaboration is really just happy to provide that for the neighborhood," said Theresa Bowick/Conkey Cruisers Capt.
"It's so exciting that so many people are joining us today on this first walk because the El Camino Trail is such an asset to the community and this is an opportunity to be on it and be fit and enjoy it and enjoy a lovely day," said Gay Mills/Gen Land Trust Executive Director.
The 5k walk will benefit the healthy fitness group, Conkey Cruisers.
