Buffalo Partnership Project Helps Lafayette Students Learn English as Second Language

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Students from more than 40 different countries are learning English at Lafayette High School, thanks to the Buffalo Partnership Project.

Beginning two years ago, the project partnered University of Buffalo with Lafayette teachers to develop new ways to help their students learn English.

Miyaga, a sophomore from Sudan, said the new approach, which includes using iPads for language and cultural literacy, helps them build trust with their teachers.

"They help us there, they're there for us through the whole course of it, just pushing us. They know we can do more," he said.

The Partnership with UB will continue at Lafayette through next year.
